Every slot game has certain elements you can almost guarantee you will see. One of these is the paytable. Some players may not pay too much attention to this, but we think it is one of the most important things you should look at before you play any slot game. Here’s why.
You can find the paylines if they are not clear from the game screen
Sometimes, you can tell how many paylines or way wins a slot game has simply by looking at the reels. That’s not always the case though. Whenever it is unclear, you will find the answer by checking the paytable. Look for an ‘i’ to click on, or the word ‘help’ or ‘info’ to find it. You might alternatively see a question mark.
It reveals the special symbols you can expect to see
The paytable will show you all the symbols present in the game. These include the special ones, such as a wild and a scatter. You will see how many of these you need to find to trigger certain features, and how they work. For example, it might reveal there is a wild with a 2x multiplier to enhance any prizes it helps you win. It will also show you which reels certain icons will appear on, as they may not all appear on all of them.
It shows you how many bonuses are available
Notice we didn’t say it shows you what those bonuses are. You cannot always count on this. Some software developers like to tell you how to trigger a bonus, but they’ll keep the bonus a secret to raise the excitement level. You may or may not like this, depending on your view!
But you will usually see whether there are bonuses and how you can trigger them. The relevant symbols are shown, along with an indication of how many you need and in what pattern. Beyond that, it is down to the software developer to tell you what is in store. Some might say you will win free spins, for example, while others will tell you how many you will win.
You can see how useful the paytable is in the scheme of things. If you know where to find it and how to read it, you will always have somewhere to go for any answers you need before you play.
