Maine Casino Outperforms Expectations In First Two Months

Casumo Casino

In June 2012, Maine opened Oxford Casino with the hopes and expectations that it would help a little financially but the first two months of operation, the casino has far outperformed expectations. Because of this, a bunch of new casinos are opening in the Northeast. Maine may have been a late bloomer but they have made up for that very quickly. Oxford Casino is located in Bangor and lawmakers approved a second facility in Oxford already.

Massive Revenues

In June and July of 2012, Oxford casino had revenue of $9.8 million. After taxes, the casino netted over $5 million, while the state received $4.1 million in tax revenue. Maine casinos pay some of the highest taxes in the country but it is indeed still very profitable. The biggest action is on the table games and now Oxford casino has ordered up another ten new tables to add to the existing 12. Oxford has averaged $2,471 a day at their tables. They estimated that they would see about $1300 per day per table. The numbers they have seen are comparable to that of Atlantic City. In fact, many states are leaving Atlantic City in their dust and watch out because Maryland, New York, Massachusetts, and Delaware have new casinos on the way too!
