Vendor For Online Gambling System Named By Delaware

The States lottery officials began negotiations this week with the winners, for the running of the Delaware's online casino gaming system, which is said, would probably launch at the end of September.

A partnership between 888 Holdings, a European online betting group, and Scientific Games International, has emerged from a bid process that began during February, and they have become the leading candidate, for the design, launching and the running of the states new iGaming system.

Currently Scientific has contracts for the administration of Delaware's video lottery system, and the 888 Holdings ran a number of gambling websites in different European countries, that offer players Bingo, Casino games, Sports betting and Poker.

Prior to the outlawing of online gaming by Congress in 2006, 888 Holdings ran a number of online gaming websites that were open for USA players. A few days after the passing of the bill (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) banning online gambling, 888 Holdings shut down their USA operations.

Beat the opposition by narrow margin

The CEO of the Dover Downs Hotel and Casino, Ed Sutor says that 888/Sci Games very narrowly beat a similar partnership, which is between Bally technologies a Las Vegas Based company, and Amaya Gaming Group, an online gaming platform creator.

The factor that gave the Sci Games/888 Holdings partnership the edge to win, was the fact that they have more years of experience behind them. Mr Sutor said that this group has about a decade of experience which counted for them.

Mr Sutor continued, three casinos in Delaware help with the preparation of the state's bid documentation and they also sat in when the bidders did their presentations for the Lottery Office, this was because the online gambling system, that the state envisioned, would be accessed through the casino's websites. There are additional contracts that are related to the Delaware's online gaming venture that remains to be awarded, this includes agreements for the furnishing of individual online games, age verification, player identification and payment processing online.

Sci Games has also bid for a provider of game content contract via their subsidiary, an online gaming designer, Williams Interactive. Sci Games acquired the company earlier this year for $1.4 billion.

Delaware is one of three states that has legalized internet betting within their state borders. This happened during June last year. It took New Jersey a year before they passed the bill in February that will allow casinos to setup gambling websites.

In February Nevada legalized poker and the first poker website has gone live this past week.

The Federal Laws now permits online gambling for lawful players who are located within the state boundaries of legalized states. The law also gives online gambling states, the ability to enter into agreements, for sharing players across their borders.

There is a similar interstate compact that are currently in operation that governs lotteries for instance the Power Ball.
