What does break away mean? We know it should mean breaking away from something, but how does this relate to a slot game?
There are all kinds of great slots to play, so finding one that appeals to you is a tough ask. This one has a sporting theme we’ll elaborate on shortly, but we should say it offers a great chance to play something different. Let’s get on with our Break Away Deluxe slot review, shall we?
This is an improved version of an original slot called Break Away. Maybe you played that one and you’re now keen to find out more about this one. If so, you can find out everything you need to know here.
This one comes from Microgaming, just as the original did.
Yes, you can and should try this before considering whether you like it enough to play the proper paid version.
When the game loads, you see hockey players and various other images pertaining to that sport. We would say this is a new and improved version of Break Away – will you agree?
This is one of those slots with little to speak of by way of the background. That means you can focus your attention solely on the reels. The controls are to the right and left of the game, which is more unusual too.
You can expect five reels to appear as the game loads, but you may not expect to see each reel standing five icons tall. That’s the format though, and it is a good one. The game doesn’t include a progressive jackpot, but it does have several other good features to note.
The game logo is the wild here, appearing on reels three through to five. It is also a Growing Wild. This means it appears in stacks that grow larger on every spin.
You could also get a Smashing Wild, occurring randomly on any spin, where a hockey player is selected to turn into a wild icon. This can occur during the Rolling Reels feature we will explain in a moment. The Smashing Wild may appear on any reel apart from the first one.
The game allows up to 88 lines to be played. The left side of the reels gives you several other options too – to play 18, 38, or 68 lines.
The betting range goes from 18 cents to $44.
It is always worth reviewing the paytable before playing a game. This one contains several features you may not have seen before, so we advise you to check it out before playing.
The first thing to mention is the Rolling Reels feature, something that has appeared in other Microgaming slots in the past. This means any time you get a winning combo, those symbols involved in the prize vanish, the ones above drop into their places, and new ones appear to complete the grid. If this results in another prize, the same happens again.
The first thing to note is that the wild – normally restricted to reels three, four, and five – can appear on reel two as well, although not reel one. To get to the free games, you need to find three or more scatter icons. This is shown as a hockey puck.
If you find three, you get 12 free games with a starting multiplier worth 2x. If you can get the Rolling Reels feature to trigger with a prize, the multiplier increases with each subsequent roll. The maximum value is 8x.
It’s a shame, but we do not yet have the information to complete this section.
The original game was good, but we think this one is better. We’re not fans of hockey, but we imagine those that are will enjoy this slot. We’re rating it as an 8 out of 10 effort, given the many great features it holds in store.
This game has only just been released, so there is no info on any big prizes yet. There’s no progressive to grab headlines with either.
It certainly represents the best way to start playing this Microgaming slot. It’s up to you to decide if it offers enough to keep you engaged if you play the real version.
And there are plenty of those around, for sure.
The Break Away Deluxe slot can be accessed on iOS and Android devices without needing an app to do so.
